"The way I heard it told, he was just a small-timer; vending machines, picking pockets, little penny-ante heists. Until, one day, he found an enchanted square of paper with the power to transform. The paper, well, let's just say it remade him."
Gray Fox

Kuniko Kasahara is a private art collector and the owner of the Paris-based company Kasahara Exports. Secretly, Kasahara is the true identity of Origami, an infamous thief with the magical ability to transform himself into a shape-shifting origami figure, effectively allowing him to commit thefts in an efficient and stealthy manner. Origami is known to steal only the finest of Far East art, and is even believed to possess more Far East art than the Far East itself. His calling card after every successful heist is a small origami figure left in place of whatever he steals.

History[]

MagicPaper

The paper that changed him.

According to legend, Kasahara was originally a small-time thief who stole from vending machines and pick-pocketed. At some point in his career of petty thievery, he came across a magical piece of paper that bonded with him, granting Kasahara the ability to transform himself into a shape-shifting origami figure. He subsequently used his newfound powers to commit thefts on much grander scales.

Kasahara first came into conflict with Jackie Chan when the latter caught him stealing a valuable 11th century Northern Song Dynasty painting from a Parisian gallery. Attempting to retrive the painting, Jackie corned Origami on the roof of the gallery, only for the latter to evade him by assuming the form of a falcon, flying away with the painting to Jackie's bewilderment. Citing that in order to catch a thief, they had to think like one, Jade enlisted the help of Viper.

OrigamiCallingCard

Origami's calling card.

Due to Origami's penchant for stealing the finest art from the Far East, the three proceeded to stakeout Kasahara's home, suspecting that he may be Origami's next target. When Jackie attempted to warn Kasahara, however, the latter refused his offer for protection. After Jackie joined Viper and Jade on the roof of the building overlooking Kasahara's private gallery, the three witnessed him placing the stolen painting into a secret vault he opened by folding his finger into a key, revealing him to be Origami. Jackie subsequently confronted Kasahara, who promtply alerted the authorities before transforming into his paper form. Finding his folding abilities too overwhelming in the ensuing confrontation, Jackie and Viper resorted to using a pair of Kasahara's own 12th century swords against him, effectively providing Jackie with a pair of makeshift scissors. Before Jackie could employ them against the paper being, however, Kasahara transformed back into his human form just as the police arrived, making it appear as though Jackie and Viper were the aggressors.

OrigamiPrison

Kasahara in prison.

After escaping from the authorities, the three deduced that in order to apprehend Origami, they had to catch him in the act. Jackie, Jade and Viper proceeded to sneak into the Louvre Museum where Origami intended to steal a large urn from the Ming Exhibit. Whilst Origami successfully managed to escape with the urn, it ultimately proved too heavy for him to carry off in his falcon form, forcing the thief to flee on foot after changing back into his human form before the police's very eyes. Kasahara then attempted to flee in a stolen car, but was eventually caught up with by Jackie, who managed to wrestle the urn from his grasp, prompting the former to chase after him. Admist the ensuing pursuit, Jackie managed to lure Kasahara to the top of the Eiffel Tower, only to eventually find himself cornered. Rather than surrender the urn, Jackie proceeded to throw it to the ground, prompting Kasahara to desperately dive over and catch it before it could break, whereupon Jackie pounced on top of him as he laid on the ground, effectively allowing him to fold the thief into a small package before stuffing him into the very urn he had inteded to steal.

Kasahara, now disenchanted, is last seen in prison, creating an origami figure of Jackie before crushing it in his hand.

Powers and Abilities[]

OrigamiNormal

Origami's main form

As Origami, Kasahara possessed magical shape-shifting powers, granting him the ability to fold his body into various shapes. He can utilize this to a small scale, such as transforming only his finger into a key, but can also change his whole body and use his paper form to fit through small spaces such as bars. His preferred form is of a humanoid figure, but can also transform into a samurai, a swan, a falcon, a giant spider, a parachute, a rhinoceros, or a pterodactyl. He could also stretch his paper appendages very far away and, despite being made of paper, can cut anything with the sharp edges of his body, including solid wall, the hood of an ambulance and the steel components of tower.

Weaknesses[]

Kasahara appears to be especially vulnerable to bladed weapons, as he cowered in fear when Jackie and Viper equipped a pair of swords against him. Kasahara is also vulnerable to being folded into helpless positions by others, as Jackie could fold him into a hand-sized package with great effort.
